Wassup!, how are you guys doing? Its been a busy month for me with loads of activities in progress, and loads in the works!, exciting times ahead!

OK so here I am, answering another question that I get asked all the time- What are my influences and why I play the style that I do. So here goes:

My initial introduction to electronic music was through artists like Prodigy and Chemical Brothers, absolutely love all the stuff these guys did back in the nineties, they had a huge impact on me then. However, the real turning point for me was all the GU releases around 99-2000, listening to Sasha and Digweed back then was a real soul stirring experience for me that triggered off my love for progressive dance music.

For me, dance music isnt just about making you dance, it should mean and do more than that to you, it should move or touch your senses in a way that makes the hair behind you neck stand up! Some of the CDs that did exactly that to me were:

Sasha - GU 13 Ibiza
Digweed - Gu14 Hong Kong
Oakenfold - Another World
BT - Movement in Still Life

Special mention for Another world, this is in my opinion Oakey's best work to date, I still listen to that CD, absolutely timeless!

Energy isnt only about how hard and how fast you can play, energy can come from various elements, I like to use melody as a big weapon to bring about an uplifting emotion and translate that into energy that can move you. Thats what makes guys like Sasha, Satoshie Tomiie, Nick Warrenc so, so good, they totally mess with your mind and constantly surprize you. Its that element that inspires and drives me everyday to find newer ways of doing it.

So fast forward to today, the sound has evolved into being more minimalistic, techy (which some people may need a run-in time with) but has retained the soul and still evokes the same emotions. BPMs have dropped in favour of more forward thinking, Intelligent elements that dont need very high BPMs to be enjoyed, but the energy and uplifting elements are still very much intact, which is exactly the beauty of the evolution!

Feel free to post for questions.

Cheers!
